Research Topic

Continuously increasing industrial growth is forcing humanity to look for non-conventional energy resources. Naturally occurring hydrates are being seen as a viable source for future energy requirements. These hydrates are available in substantial amounts but demand evaluation of its production potential and associated technological challenges. On the other hand, disposal of anthropogenic CO2 has emerged as major hurdle for sustained industrial development. Sequestration of carbon-di-oxide as hydrate in geologic hydrate reservoirs is a promising way of tackling the menace of global warming. There are also other inherent advantages of CO2 sequestration in hydrate deposits, for example, enhanced gas recovery and increased structural strength of hydrate bearing sediments.
