Kanpur, 06 October, 2023: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is all set to stage the 19th edition of Udghosh '23, one of the biggest intercollegiate sports festivals in India. Set to unfold from 6–8 October 2023, it promises to be an unforgettable extravaganza, featuring a mesmerising blend of sportsmanship, culture, and entertainment. This year, the sport event takes its inspiration from the grandeur and spirit that prevailed at Rome’s Colosseum, which led to spectacular, competitive and engaging performances in the arena.

From cricket to football, badminton to chess, and even cutting-edge e-sports, Udghosh '23 is set to be a battleground of talent, determination, and sportsmanship. In fact, the popular intercollegiate festival, this year, sees a participation of over 2,500 participants hailing from 450+ colleges across the country, which will converge at the magnificent ‘Colosseum’ to showcase their skills in approximately 75 events spanning 20 sports disciplines.

Prof. S Ganesh, Officiating Director, IIT Kanpur said, "The sheer numbers, be it in terms of athletes, participating colleges or the array of sporting events brings to mind the grandeur and scale synonymous with the Colosseum. It is exciting and I share the sentiment with our athletes as they look ahead to the opportunity to make a mark in the competition. I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to those who have dedicated their time and creativity to meticulously plan for this significant moment."

Udghosh ’23 is not just about athletic prowess, it also celebrates life, culture, and laughter. There is music and entertainment galore as the sport festival has also organised gigs like Comedy Nights, Bollywood Nights, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Nights that promise to keep everyone entertained throughout the festival. The three-day sport festival will feature rap shows, magic shows, fire shows, silent disco shows and prom nights among other things.

One of the highlights of the festival includes engaging conversations with eminent sportsmen, which will take place on 8 October 2023. The sport festival will be hosting Mr Rahul Chaudhari, also known as ‘Poster Boy of Kabaddi’, during the closing ceremony. During this special event, he will delve into his personal journey, recounting the challenges he encountered and the strategies he employed to triumph over them. This interaction with a distinguished figure in the realm of Kabaddi will not only inspire sports enthusiasts, but also offer valuable insights into the sport

Udghosh '23 is an experience that transcends boundaries, uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds in the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and inspiration.
