Flower Show held at IIT Kanpur

 

   

Kanpur, February 27, 2023: Like previous years, excluding the Corona period, this year also a flower exhibition was organized in the nursery of IIT Kanpur, which was inaugurated by IIT Kanpur Deputy Director Prof. S. Ganesh. The flower exhibition was organized in two sections – first one catering to the houses of the institute, and the second one catering to the hostels, Director's residence and guest house.



In the first category, about nine hundred (900) pots were planted, in which the first prize was awarded to house no. 625 of Prof. N. Nilakantan, second prize was awarded to house no. 672 of Shri Navpreet Singh, while the third prize was awarded to house no. 443 of Prof. J. G. Rao.


In the second category, more than 2000 pots were planted in various categories, in which Director's Residence got first place, Guest House (VH) got second place and Hall 12 got third place. The judging of this flower exhibition was done by retired professors of CSA. Saplings of Kalpavriksha, Camphor, Sandalwood, Rudraksh, Viksha etc. are planted in the nursery of the institute. There is also an herbal garden in the nursery, in which Sarpagandha, Ashwagandha, Satavar, Karpari Tulsi, Damvel etc. are planted.


About 220 species of flowers and green leafy plants, cut flowers, vegetables and fruits etc., including Pansy, Ranunculus, Lady’s purse flower, Dog Flower, Primula, were also planted in the flower show.


A fair along with puppet show and art competition for children were also organized by the Women's Association on Sunday, in which the residents of the campus participated enthusiastically.
