As Chairman, Spectrum Policy Task Force, we developed spectrum policy guidelines for spectrum for 5G in India.

• Chairman (Oct 2016-Oct 2018), Vice Chairman (Oct 2014-Sept 2016) and Director General (Nov 2015-February 2017), Telecom Standards Development Society India (TSDSI), I played a leadership role in nation-wide effort for setting up India's telecom standards development organization (SDO) with participation of all stakeholders-telecom operators, equipment vendors, academia and research labs. India, despite being the second largest telecom market in the world, did not have any Standards Development Organization. Our sustained efforts since 2010 resulted in the creation of TSDSI in India in January 2014. As the first Vice-Chairman, (and Chairman since Oct 2016) TSDSI Governing Council and Director General in my honorary capacity, I played a critical advisory role in the conceptualization and establishment of new technical standards work programmes within the TSDSI. In December 2014, TSDSI was inducted as one of the Organizational Partners of 3GPP, a body that drives next generation wireless standards.

• Vice Chairman, 3GPP Program Coordination Group (PCG), 2017, I was elected as Vice Chairman of 3GPP PCG in its meeting held in London in October 2016 for a period of one year. 3GPP is a global body comprising of telecom standards bodies of US, Europe, China, India, South Korea.

• Chair, Global Standards Collaboration (GSC)-20 and 3GPP (OP), As the Chair of 20th meeting of Global Standards Collaboration (GSC), a body comprising all telecom and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) SDOs of the world and also as the Chair 3GPP (Organizational Partners), I played a critical role in hosting the meetings of GSC, 3GPP (program coordination group) and 3GPP (organizational partners) in April 2016.

• Consultant, Bharatnet Design and Implementation and Member, Technical Standing Committee, I am acting as a consultant to provide technical expertise in the design and implementation of pan-India rural broadband network-Bharatnet. I am also working on drafting technical specifications and recommending technical choices.

• Coordinator, National Centre for Excellence in Technologies for Internal Security (NCETIS), For the past two years, I spearheaded an effort along with colleagues from IIT Bombay in setting up a Homeland security center. The center is expected to address the technology innovations gap for internal security requirements specially for state and central police forces of our country. I coordinated the effort for preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR). The same was approved by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt of India and the center has begun its operations fromsince October 2015.

• Member, Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) since 2013, As Member, TAC of SEBI, I am contributing in framing appropriate policies in light of various technological advances including algorithmic trading, co-location, disaster recovery plan, system audit and security framework. I also led a team which conducted confidential investigation of complaint against a stock exchange on co-located brokers.

• Member, Expert Group on usage of TV White Space Technology, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), 2015-16, As Member of the committee, I contributed to evaluating various technology options. The committee has submitted a comprehensive report on possible ways of exploiting TV White spaces for broadband communications.

• Member, Working Group on Spectrum (constituted through Cabinet notification), Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC), Department of Telecom, 2015-16

• Member, Justice Patil Committee for the formulation of “Spectrum Act”, June 2011, The committee was chaired by Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Shivraj V. Patil. I contributed to writing a draft of National Radio Spectrum Management Act to replace Indian Wireless Telegraphy act 1933.

• Member, Working Group on Telecom for 12th Five year Plan of India, 2011, Planning Commission, Govt of India, As Member of the Working Group for 12th 5 year plan, I contributed to several drafts of sub-groups created under this working group on Telecom R&D, IPR and manufacturing, spectrum and licensing, and broadband.
