IIT Kanpur NCC cadets organize Unity Run to celebrate Iron Man of India’s birth anniversary

 

   

Kanpur, 2 November 2023: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) organized a Unity Run to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, India's first Home Minister also known as the Iron Man of India who played a vital role in convincing several princely states to join the Indian Union after independence. The Unity Run was organised at IIT Kanpur under the aegis of 2 UP CTR, IIT Kanpur Bn of NCC Gp HQ Kanpur.


A total of 600 undergraduate students of IIT Kanpur participated in the run which was flagged off by Prof. Sameer Khandekar Dean of Students Affairs along with Col Shishir Srivastava, Commanding Officer of 2 UP CTR NCC, IIT Kanpur. Prof. Sameer Khandekar said, "the run organized by the students of IIT Kanpur symbolized a profound sense of peace and harmony among our fellow citizens. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity and collective efforts towards the betterment of our society and the progress of our nation." Mr Indra Shekhar Sen, Chairman, Sport and Physical Education Committee, was also present during the event.
