Course Contents

Loads on an aircraft. Elements of Linear Theory of Elasticity. Idealization of Aerospace Structure. Stress Resultant. Extension bending of non homogenous Euler Bernoulli. Bending shear stress (open closed solid).  St. Venant torsion of arbitrary cross section. Shear flow. Thin Walled beams: Single celled and multi celled box beams. (5HR) Shear center for open and closed section. Tapered beams. Beam Column Euler Buckling. Principle of virtual work.
