Description: Bhabha Atomic Research Center project on "Nano-finishing of sculptured / free form surfaces" using Magneto-rheological Fluid based finishing technologies.
Description: MHMIC have been traditionally manufactured using lithographic techniques. These involve use of several chemicals and wet processing. Some manufacturers (Polygrames Research Center, for example) have also used lasers to fabricate MHMICs, through a direct write process that does not have a high throughput. We are exploring the use of excimer laser through mask projection techniques for fabrication of thin film MHMICs. It has been demonstrated that it is possible to keep the size of the ablated region close to the design and to obtain clean ablation at the edges. Printing (by removal of metal film) of passive elements is, thus, possible by using excimer laser.
Description: Wheelchairs are extensively used by disabled people to enhance their personal mobility. "Vardaan" facilitates climbing up and down the stairs by using an innovative 'Y' shaped wheel that provides better grip and optimum braking along with a ratchet and a braking system. The design makes use of the fact that people with lower limb disability have high upper body strength and therefore pulling / pushing the ratchet lever can be conveniently operated by them.
