Student Placement

The PG programme at IIT Kanpur is one of the most intense and demanding in the country. A graduating PG student is not only theoretically sound but is also very well versed with latest computational and experimental skills.

A lot of students are absorbed in other premier research organizations like Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), and academic institutions like IITs, BITS Pilani, NITs. Typical job profiles of our graduates could be design, manufacturing, research and development, management, etc. A lot of our PhD students pursue a career in academia. Every year a majority of students take up doctoral/postdoctoral studies in prestigious foreign universities and Labs in US, Germany, UK and Canada.

Technology Development

We aim to solve problems faced by the industry along with the fundamental problems of science, and for us, the delivery of knowledge is as important as creation of knowledge. Our experts will be able to identify the technological and scientific issues involved and address them accordingly. Even if these are fundamental issues and require great depth of knowledge to make them work advantageously.

Active Collaborations

Our faculties often collaborate with organizations worldwide to overcome challenges faced by industry and research laboratories spanning both fundamental and applied science.

Interdisciplinary Research

Interdisciplinary research carried out by our faculties can adequately address the modern technological challenges arising at the interface of different engineering and science disciplines.

Engineering Solutions

Besides the large industries, we are keen to work with small and medium sized companies. Besides technology development and troubleshooting, our faculties actively helped them with calibration, testing, infrastructure development, improving process efficiency and safety audits.
