The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with marks/CPI not below 55% marks (or Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 5.5 on a 10-point scale) or the minimum pass marks (or CPI) whichever is greater. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes who have the required qualification are eligible to apply irrespective of the marks/CPI. A valid GATE score is needed. The GATE requirement is waived for the B. Tech. graduates from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two semesters in B. Tech. However, such students are not entitled to Institute Assistantship if overall CPI is below 8.0.
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Production Engineering are eligible for admission to the Manufacturing Science stream only.
