The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur has been announced as a key partner in the establishment of NMexus, a newly launched global business accelerator and commercialization center based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This initiative was officially unveiled by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham at the SelectUSA Investment Summit. Its primary goal is to attract foreign direct investment and assist international companies in establishing a strong presence in the U.S. market.

SIIC IIT Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NMexus Center in April 2025 to support Indian startups entering the U.S. market. It will provide NMexus with access to a curated pipeline of high-quality, market-ready startups. In return, startups incubated at SIIC will benefit from NMexus' soft-landing infrastructure, mentoring, regulatory support, and business development services tailored for the North American market.

Situated in the Mesa del Sol innovation district, the NMexus Center is the first of its kind in New Mexico. It aims to support companies from India, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia by providing the necessary infrastructure, knowledge, and networks for successful expansion into the U.S. market. The center is expected to serve up to 40 companies annually, generating approximately 1,500 new jobs and an economic impact of over $400 million in the next five years.

Prof. Deepu Philip, Professor-in-Charge, SIIC, IIT Kanpur, said, “This partnership with NMexus aligns perfectly with our vision of making SIIC a global launchpad for deep-tech ventures. It will allow our innovators to access international markets more seamlessly and help position Indian technology on the world stage.”

Mr. Anurag Singh, CEO, SIIC, IIT Kanpur, added, “Through NMexus, we are building a bridge between Indian innovation and U.S. opportunity. This collaboration opens new doors for our startups—offering the critical infrastructure and support needed to scale globally and sustainably.”

This partnership marks a major milestone in SIIC’s efforts to enable global scale and impact for Indian startups, reinforcing its leadership in cross-border innovation, technology commercialization, and entrepreneurial ecosystem development.
