IIT Kanpur to celebrate its 66th Foundation Day on 2nd November 2025; Shri Adil Zainulbhai to grace the event as Chief Guest

Kanpur, November 1, 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is all set to celebrate its 66th Foundation Day on 2nd November 2025, marking over six decades of excellence in education, research, and innovation. The event will be graced by Shri Adil Zainulbhai, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Ropar and IIT Goa, as the distinguished Chief Guest.
The celebrations will commence with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Shri Adil Zainulbhai, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, in the presence of Prof. Braj Bhushan, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur; Prof. Amey Karkare, Dean of Resources and Alumni, IIT Kanpur; Prof. Jitendra K. Bera, Dean of Faculty Affairs, IIT Kanpur; and other dignitaries, faculty members, students, staff, and guests.
Speaking about the occasion, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “The Foundation Day marks a significant milestone in IIT Kanpur’s journey of academic excellence and societal impact. It is a moment to celebrate our legacy of innovation and reaffirm our vision to continue translating knowledge that benefits humanity. We are delighted to welcome Shri Adil Zainulbhai as our Chief Guest and look forward to celebrating the achievements of our alumni and contributors who continue to make the institute proud.”
The two-day celebration will feature a cultural evening on November 1, highlighted by a soulful sitar recital by Mr. Sumit Singh, promising a vibrant start to the festivities.
On November 2, the main event will witness the felicitation of 21 awardees across multiple categories, including Institute Fellows, Distinguished Alumni Awards, Distinguished Services Awards, and Young Alumni Awards, recognizing their exemplary achievements, leadership, and contributions to the institute and society.
The ceremony will conclude with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Braj Bhushan, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur, followed by the National Anthem, marking the culmination of this significant milestone in IIT Kanpur’s illustrious journey of excellence and innovation.
