The Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur invites applications for MNRE Postdoctoral Fellow positions, with appointments expected to begin in January 2026. The department welcomes outstanding candidates with expertise across all domains of sustainable energy engineering and is particularly interested in individuals with strong academic and research backgrounds in the following areas:

  • Mathematical modelling and simulation of renewable energy system with its components and application of optimization tools for their optimal operation.

The Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering aims to contribute to the national vision of energy sustainability by advancing new and renewable energy technologies that enhance the nation's energy security and improve the health and well-being of its citizens.

Compensation & benefits:

  • Base Salary: Rs. 58000 per month
  • Dearness allowance (DA): DA is not applicable for this position as per DST norms.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): As per central government norms for Kanpur.
  • Contingency Expenses: As per MNRE norms for this position.
  • Medical Benefits: Entitled to medical facilities as per IIT Kanpur norms for this position.
  • Leave: Entitled to casual leave and earned leave/annual leave as per IIT Kanpur norms.

Project: Renewable Energy Based Microgrid Design, Operation And Control

Required Qualifications: PhD in Electrical Engineering / Energy Engineering.
Relevant skills & experience: Proven knowledge and understanding of real energy system and power electronic circuits. Knowledge of modeling and simulation of renewable energy systems with optimization tools is desirable.
