We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi (former IAS) has joined the department and Kesavan Center. He has over 35 years of elite experience in administrative roles, serving previously as Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. His landmark work includes the design of Production Linked Incentive schemes for solar manufacturing and the development of the Green Hydrogen Mission.

He holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MPAID from Kennedy School, Harvard University.

We are pleased to inform you that Dr. Ankur Awadhiya has joined our Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering and Kesavan Center. He is currently serving as an active Indian Forest Service officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre.

Under the ATMAN project, IIT Kanpur has built an AI-equipped mobile laboratory capable of identifying granular pollution factors within two days instead of years. These cutting-edge sensor units will be rotated across residential, industrial, and quiet zones to pinpoint pollution origins directly.

On a major initiative backed by the Central Government, IIT Kanpur is tracking real-time micro-level pollution and temperature variances by installing advanced sensor packages across 113 districts at block level.

Dr. Amarendra Edpuganti completed his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore. His robust profile includes R&D systems engineering roles with ABB Global and postdoctoral tenures with Khalifa University, UAE. His research centers around power electronics applications within transit electrification and smart renewable grid integration frameworks.

Dr. Sudarshan Narayanan received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and recently completed advanced postdoctoral research workflows at the University of Oxford. His focal areas include structural thin-film coatings, optoelectronic modules, solid-state batteries, and multi-scale characterization parameters.

An analytical feature piece published in The Indian Express under the standard Experts Explain Section, co-authored by Prof. Ashish Garg and Prof. Rajeev Jindal.

Dr. Jhajhria achieved her Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Delhi in 2019 and spearheaded micro-supercapacitor microfabrication systems at IIT Roorkee. Her technical focus envelopes electrochemical cell systems and solid-state thin-film engineering structures.

Dr. Bajpai brings elite pedagogical insights from IIT Kharagpur and has served as a Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy Fellow at Washington State University, USA. His focal research parameters target Microgrids, power restructuring dynamics, and scaled solar PV networks.

Dr. Jindal completed his Ph.D. from IIT Delhi with extensive postdoctoral tracks across France and the USA. He has corporate engineering R&D experience across companies like Moser Baer, NTL, and C&S Electric in optimizing clean energy solutions from prototypes into commercialized commodities.

Dr. Rai achieved his Ph.D. from Purdue University, USA. He is an awardee of the ASHRAE Grant-in-Aid, and his core domain emphasizes building engineering structures, clean air circulation systems, and HVAC energy footprint contraction.

IIT Kanpur has been selected as the lead administrative node for the ICMAP Material platform, chaired directly by Center Head Prof. Kanwar Nalwa of Sustainable Energy Engineering.

Dr. Chandra earned his Ph.D. from the University of Karlsruhe (KIT Germany). His comprehensive track records embrace work at IGCAR Kalpakkam, NRG Petten (The Netherlands), and IIT BHU specializing in heat-fluid mechanics, turbulence modeling, and advanced solar thermal design.

Organized by Dr. K. S. Nalwa, this pivotal virtual platform explored the complex Food-Water-Energy climate nexus models alongside decarbonisation trajectories.

Dr. Swami achieved her Ph.D. in Climate Studies from IIT Bombay. She is a Berkner Fellow (American Geophysical Union) and has actively drafted the Rajasthan State Action Plan on Climate Change.

Dr. Pant achieved his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, Canada. His computational research scales multi-physics simulation models for fuel cells and battery media.

The Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering was formally established for high-level education and cutting-edge breakthrough research in energy sustainability frameworks by the Board of Governors of IIT Kanpur on explicit recommendations from the Academic Senate.
