The Pioneer Batch of Research Internships in Science & Engineering (RISE) at IIT Kanpur concluded in August 2026, offering participants a transformative experience of working with leading researchers and immersing themselves in IITK’s vibrant research ecosystem. The RISE program functions in 2-phases, Winter Online Internship and Summer In-person Internship.

• Winter Online Internship (Dec 2025): 32 students from Syria, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan, and Bangladesh worked under the mentorship of 22 IITK faculty through a 4-week online program.
• Summer Internship (May–July 2026): 12 students from USA, South Korea, Bangladesh, Nepal, Syria, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Madagascar joined for 6–8 weeks of in‑person research across diverse departments including Chemical Engineering, Aerospace, Materials Science, Design, Management Sciences, Mechanical, Economic Sciences, and Space & Planetary Sciences.

The program successfully identified talented international students keen on pursuing full‑time degrees at IIT Kanpur. Notably, three interns from the winter batch have joined as postgraduate students in AY 2026–27.

Feedback from both faculty and students has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the program’s strong framework, impactful mentorship, and seamless support from the Institute.
