IIT Kanpur welcomed a delegation from Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, on August 24, 2026, comprising Prof. Christian Bernhard, Professor of Steelmaking and Head of the Steel Cleanness and Casting Research Group in the Department of Metallurgy, and Mr. Seyed Mohammad Reza Goldansaz, International Project Manager.

During the visit, the delegation met with Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur; Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean, Office of International Relations; Prof. Kantesh Balani, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering; and Prof. Rahul Sarkar from the same department. The discussions centred on establishing an academic and research partnership between the two institutions, with a focus on joint research activities, faculty engagement, and student exchange programmes.

The visit marks an important step towards strengthening international collaboration and advancing research in metallurgy and materials engineering.
