The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur inaugurated a course on “Robotics” on 21 September 2026, which will be held until 02 October 2026, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The course is designed as a capacity-building initiative to develop technical and analytical skills in robotics and related technologies, enabling participants to apply these concepts in research, industry, and public-sector innovation. The programme is coordinated by Prof. Ashish Dutta and Prof. Shakti Singh Gupta from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. A total of 19 participants, including government officials, diplomats, and researchers from 13 countries - Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Oman, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Botswana, Senegal, Algeria, and Egypt are participating in the course.

The inaugural session was addressed by Prof. Pratik Sen, Acting Dean, Office of International Relations, who welcomed the participants on behalf of IIT Kanpur and the Office of International Relations. The Institute also expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of External Affairs for supporting the programme, noting that initiatives under the ITEC framework strengthen India’s role in fostering global partnerships in education, science, and technological development.
