Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur inaugurated a course on “Space Mission Design, Analysis, and Operations” from 28 July to 9 August 2025, as part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

This course is designed as a capacity-building program, aimed at strengthening participants’ technical skills and theoretical understanding in the field of space missions. The course is designed to help the participants develop essential competencies required for mission planning, orbit determination, designing orbital manoeuvring campaigns, relative dynamics, spacecraft docking, supervised lab visit and operations.

The course is led by Prof. Dipak Kumar Giri, Course Coordinator and faculty member in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Kanpur. A total of 15 participants including government officials, diplomats, and researchers from 8 different countries are attending this program.

The opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations, who warmly welcomed all participants on behalf of IIT Kanpur and the Office of International Relations.
