IIT Kanpur and IIIT Una Forge Strategic Partnership for Academic and Research Excellence

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and The Indian Institute of Information Technology Una (IIIT Una) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration in areas such as joint research projects, development of the start-up ecosystem, the conduct of training programs and other academic activities, the establishment of laboratories and infrastructure, and the sharing of educational and research facilities. The MoU was signed by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, and Prof. Manish Gaur, Director of IIIT Una, in the presence of Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, Acting Dean (R&D), IIT Kanpur.

Under this MoU, both institutions will engage in various collaborative activities. These include joint research initiatives where faculty and students from both institutes collaborate on projects in emerging technology domains, promoting interdisciplinary innovation. The partnership will also support entrepreneurship and start-ups through incubation initiatives, mentoring programs, and innovation-driven events.

Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, stated, "This collaboration with IIIT Una is another step towards fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in higher education. We hope this partnership will strengthen academic and technological capabilities and contribute to the growing national innovation landscape."

The collaboration will enhance skill development and academic enrichment through joint training programs, faculty development initiatives, and student workshops. Academic exchanges, guest lectures, joint seminars, and curriculum development will be organized, along with the sharing of educational resources. These efforts aim to build technical competencies and domain-specific expertise among students and faculty.

A key focus of the partnership is the development of advanced research laboratories and innovation hubs, which will be co-developed by the two institutions. IIIT Una and IIT Kanpur will benefit from shared infrastructure and reciprocal access to research tools, facilities, and academic assets. This will significantly strengthen the research and development capabilities of both institutes.

Prof. Manish Gaur, Director of IIIT Una, remarked, "This MoU represents a major milestone in our journey towards academic and research excellence. Partnering with a premier institution like IIT Kanpur will significantly bolster our high-end research and innovation capabilities, paving the way for start-up development and holistic academic enrichment. We are excited about this collaboration's possibilities and are committed to achieving impactful outcomes together."Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, Acting Dean (R&D), IIT Kanpur, expressed his views saying that, “This strategic alliance will help align research outputs with national priorities and industry needs, driving meaningful impact through collaborative academic ventures and a shared vision for growth.

This collaborative effort aims to create enriched opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members, encouraging interdisciplinary learning, technological advancement, and entrepreneurial growth. IIIT Una and IIT Kanpur aspire to contribute significantly to India's innovation and research ecosystem by uniting their expertise and resources.
