C3iHub, IIT Kanpur, and Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) Join Hands to Strengthen Automotive Security

C3iHub, a Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Hub recently upgraded to Technology Translation Research Parks (TTRP) by the Department of Science and Technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to advance research, innovation, and collaboration in the field of automotive security. The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI, Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of R&D, IIT Kanpur, and Dr. Tanima Hajra, CEO, C3iHub, in the presence of Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Ms. Ujjwala Karle, Sr. Deputy Director, ARAI; Mr. Ravindra G Shah, Deputy General Manager, ARAI; Prof. Somitra Sanadhya, Project Director, C3iHub; and Mr. Vibhu Vaibhav Awasthi, Deputy Manager, ARAI.

This strategic collaboration will focus on developing innovative solutions, advancing joint research, and addressing emerging challenges in automotive cybersecurity. With the rapid adoption of connected and autonomous vehicles, ensuring safe, secure, and resilient mobility systems has become a global priority. Through this partnership, C3iHub and ARAI aim to create impactful technologies that enhance the safety of future transportation systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, “With automobiles becoming increasingly software-driven, cybersecurity has emerged as a critical pillar for ensuring safety and reliability. This collaboration with ARAI will allow us to jointly develop solutions and build capacity in automotive security research.

Dr. Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI, added: “ARAI has always been at the forefront of advancing technologies in mobility and safety. Partnering with IIT Kanpur and C3iHub will enable us to combine our expertise and contribute towards developing secure, sustainable, and future-ready automotive solutions.”

C3iHub is a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) established at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems. C3iHub addresses the cybersecurity of cyber-physical systems in its entirety. C3iHub detects security vulnerabilities in critical cyber-physical systems, develops security tools to address the vulnerabilities, nucleates start-ups and partners with industries to commercialize the security tools, and provides training to the next generation of cybersecurity researchers.
