Donor Scholarships

The Institute gives Donor Scholarships to meritorious and needy students. The details of the various Donor Scholarships available for students and the criteria used for selection are listed in the following table. In addition to the criteria mentioned in the table below, the following conditions are applied while deciding the various Donor Scholarships. These criteria and conditions were approved in the 487th (2015-16/8th) meeting of Academic Senate held on 23-24 May 2016, 489th (2015-16/10th) meeting of Academic Senate held on 15 July 2016, 490th (2016-17/1st) meeting of Academic Senate held on 30 August 2016, or earlier meetings.

  1. A student should have a CPI ≥ 6.0 and Total Family Annual Income (TFAI) < (TFAI_norm). The TFAI_norm is 6.0 lacs currently. After the first round of Donor Scholarships have been decided, the means criteria may be relaxed to (1.5*TFAI_norm). If there are donor scholarships still un-awarded, the following criteria may be used in awarding more donor scholarships.

  2. A donor scholarships meant for students of a particular year in specific department(s), may be opened for other students in the following order: (i) students across all years within the same department(s), (ii) students of the particular year across all departments, and (iii) students across all years across all departments.

  3. A donor scholarships meant for students of all years in a specific department may be opened for other students across all years across all departments.

  4. If a donor scholarship goes un-awarded in an academic year, the scholarship amount available in the next academic year is double of the original amount. Therefore, this scholarship may be awarded in the next academic year to two students, if available, using prevailing guidelines.

  5. The modifications above shall be applied subject to approval from the donor(s). Please note that the above criteria/conditions are referred to as MCM-Donor criteria in the table below.

Four scholarships, one each for each batch (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students). Students in the fifth year of 5-year programs are not eligible to receive the scholarship. To be decided by an SSPC appointed committee. Applicants may be interviewed, if needed. A student selected in any year continues to get the scholarship unless s/he fails to meet any of the MCM-Donor criteria, in which case the scholarship may be given to the next deserving student in the same batch.

First preference is given to students with family income <5 lakhs per annum.

2. The scholarship will continue for all four years of his/her academic tenure. Continuation of the scholarships from the second year and beyond will be based on:

a. The student(s) maintaining a minimum CPI for all subsequent years of his/her program (as per present institute norms CPI > 6.0)

1. The scholarships will be given to three 1st year UG girl students from any discipline based on means, whose total annual family income is between Rs. 1.0 lakh to Rs. 5.0 lakhs. Eligible students will be ranked as per total annual parental income, and three students with the least total annual parental income (amongst the category of students whose total annual parental income is between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5 lakhs), will be awarded the scholarship. In case of multiple students having the same annual parental income, the scholarship will be given to the student having the higher AIR.

2. In case no suitable girl student(s) is found as per the above mentioned eligibility criteria, the support will be extended to 1st year male student(s) fulfilling the above mentioned criteria.

3. The scholarship will continue for all four years of his/her academic tenure. Continuation from the second year and beyond will be based on:

   a. The student(s) maintaining a minimum CPI for all subsequent years of his/her program (as per present institute norms CPI > 6.0)

   b. The student(s) not facing any disciplinary action debarring him/her from receiving the scholarship, and

   c. The student(s) meeting the annual parental income criterion (total annual parental income being in between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5 lakhs).

BATCH OF 1965 SCHOLARSHIP

1.  To be awarded to UG students of 4-year program based on merit cum means (CPI above 6.5 and family income till 9.0 lacs) and participation in extra-curricular activities.

 

2. One scholarship of Rs 1,00,000/- to be earmarked for each year (i.e., 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students). A student once selected to receive the scholarship should continue to receive the scholarship until graduation unless he/she fails to meet any of criteria.

 

3. It is the intention of donors to spread the scholarships evenly among all engineering disciplines. No more than one scholarship should be awarded in any discipline among students from the same batch.
