About Us
The Media Technology Centre (MTC) is the in house media and digital content development unit of IIT Kanpur. Since 2005, MTC has been supporting the Institute’s academic, outreach, and institutional activities through professional media production and technology enabled content development.
MTC works across the IIT Kanpur ecosystem to develop, produce, and deliver high quality video and digital content for teaching, learning, research dissemination, institutional communication, events, and outreach. From academic lectures and educational programmes to conferences, special events, and institutional initiatives, the centre provides end to end production support from planning and recording to post production, editing, and final delivery.
With dedicated studios, professional production infrastructure, and an experienced technical and creative team, MTC enables faculty, researchers, students, departments, and institutional units to effectively communicate and disseminate their work through digital media.
Over the years, MTC has evolved as a trusted centre for digital content creation, media production, and technology enabled communication at IIT Kanpur, combining creative expertise, technical capabilities, and robust production workflows to strengthen the Institute’s digital learning, knowledge sharing and outreach initiatives.

Swayam-NPTEL
Swayam-NPTEL provides access to high quality online courses developed by expert faculty from IITs and IISc across a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, science, humanities, and management. The platform supports flexible and accessible learning through structured video lectures, downloadable course materials, assignments, and other digital resources.
Swayam Prabha
Swayam Prabha is a Ministry of Education initiative offering 40 DTH educational television channels that broadcast 24/7 across India. Uplinked through BISAG-N, the platform provides at least 4 hours of fresh, curriculum based content each day, which is repeated throughout the day to support flexible learning. The educational content is developed by premier national institutions, including the IITs, DU, BHU, IGNOU, and other leading academic institutions across the country.
Promotional Content
MTC supports IIT Kanpur in the creation and production of promotional and institutional video content, with concepts developed, produced, and directed by the Centre. From institutional events and academic programmes to research initiatives and campus activities, MTC brings the diverse stories and achievements of IIT Kanpur to life through engaging and thoughtfully crafted visual content. Each production is designed to communicate with clarity and purpose, using effective storytelling to make academics, campus life, institutional initiatives, and milestones accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
C3iHub's Learning Management System
C3iHub has officially launched its indigenously developed Learning Management System (LMS) a significant step toward advancing India's technological self reliance. Produced by MTC, this film showcases the vision behind the platform, built on the principles of Simple, Secure, Scalable to deliver a robust, user centric digital learning ecosystem for education, training, and innovation, while highlighting its indigenous development, key features, and role in enabling secure, accessible, and scalable digital learning.
