The Media Technology Centre produces a diverse range of original content, including documentaries, educational courses, institutional events, research showcases, promotional materials, and other digital media. Through creative direction and visual storytelling, these productions support the effective communication of IIT Kanpur’s academic, research, and institutional work.

The content is developed through the collaborative expertise of in-house filmmakers, cinematographers, editors, designers, writers, and media technology professionals. Their combined creative and technical capabilities enable MTC to create engaging, high-quality visual content with a strong focus on storytelling, innovation, and attention to detail.

Game Tech Explorers: Understanding Humans, Machines, and Play

From sensors and feedback that simulate human senses to fast response systems linking player actions to game outputs, this module examines how simple AI powered by logic and decision trees brings game characters to life. You'll also discover how hand tracking enables gesture based control, how eye tracking supports gaze driven gameplay, and how voice commands work through AI powered speech recognition. Learners are introduced to VR, AR, and MR technologies, the hardware behind cameras and haptic motors, and hands on activities using sensors, Teachable Machine, and p5.js culminating in a final project where they build an interactive game feature using AI, gestures, voice, or XR tools.
