Applications are invited for PhD admissions in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) under Visvesvaraya PhD scheme supported by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India.

Applications are invited from eligible and highly motivated candidates interested in pursuing PhD in general area of “Flexible Electronics” which includes for example, development of flexible displays, batteries, circuits, memory on paper or plastic, organic semiconductors etc.

Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme

The scheme is available for Ph.D candidates in research topics (mentioned above) which come under the broad research categories of Electronic Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES).

SSome of the highlights of Visvesvaraya PhD fellowships are the following:

1. Enhanced Ph.D fellowship: The scheme currently offers Rs. 31000/- pm and Rs. 33000/- pm in the first two, and last three years respectively. (Note: Duration of fellowship is for 5 years.)

2. A contingency grant of Rs. 30,000/- per year.

3. 3. Support for attending up to two renowned international conferences per full time candidate @ up to maximum of Rs. 50,000/- for each international conference. The total support is for 1000 such participations fulfilling the norms defined in the scheme on first come first serve basis.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have a B.Tech. or M.Sc. degree (with valid GATE score) or M.Tech. degree in one of the following disciplines: (Candidates with B.Tech. degree from one of the CFTIs (centrally funded technical institutes) with GPA/CPI over 7.5 (out of 10) or 75% total marks in B.Tech. degree are exempted from requirement of GATE score.)

Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry

Desirable: Experience in electronics materials processing and characterization, flexible electronics, organic electronics.
