Prof. Shreesh Jadhav

Prof. Shreesh Jadhav was an IITK alumnus and a Monastic faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at School of Mathematical Sciences, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. In 2009, he was conferred with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the society at large and is also one of the most influential alumni of IIT Kanpur.


Profile

Born in the year 1968, he has devoted most part of his life to the social cause. His awards and achievements over the years are the testaments of his crude brilliance and simplicity. He joined IIT Kanpur in the year 1985, after securing an all India JEE 2nd rank. Here he scored straight A's in all the subjects barring Sociology. He could have joined any company or taken admission anywhere in the world, but he remained true to his goal of devoting his life to Society's service.


After completing his PhD, he went on his mission to provide education to the underprivileged. On the question of him giving up all the riches of life for becoming a monk, he said -"I did not make much of renunciation. It is actually you, who did it. I left lesser stuff for something better and you left the better things to dwell over the mundane matters. Now tell me, who actually renounced?".

He has worked in several teaching positions, for example as a resident honorary teacher at the CBSE affiliated Ramakrishna mission school in Narottamnagar, Arunachal Pradesh for about four months, served as an honorary lecturer in Ramakrishna Mission Shilpamandira, a govt. Sponsored polytechnic, during 1996-1997, Served as an honorary lecturer and co-ordinator of the computer science and applications department during 1997-2006. Currently, he is serving as dean of research and co-ordinator of the Computer Science Dept. of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University.

His research interests included Computational Geometry, Graph and Geometric Algorithms and Discrete Applied Mathematics. His B.Tech project was selected in highest research society for Computer Science - ACM journal. His works were published in globally renowned Journal Articles and Conference and Workshop Papers.

Achievements and Honors

  • Distinguished Alumnus Award, IIT Kanpur, 2009.
  • Selected as one of the most influential alumni of IIT Kanpur.
  • Certificate of merit from IIT Kanpur for academic proficiency in the joint entrance examination (1985) for securing a second rank in India and the first rank in the western zone.
  • Topped the GATE in computer Science stream with a score of 99.92 percentile in 1989
