His research connects advanced science with practical applications.

Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Professor,Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). His appointment is for a term of three years or until he turns 70, whichever comes earlier. Over the course of his illustrious career, he has held several prominent academic and administrative positions. Prof. Chaturvedi served as the Director of IIT Roorkee from 2017 to 2022 and held additional charges as the Director of Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla from Jan 2017 to Aug 2018 and IIT Mandi from July 2020 to January 2022.An expert in communication theory and wireless systems, Prof. Chaturvedi has made notable contributions in the areas of waveform shaping, sequence design, and MIMO systems. His work has earned him several honours, including the INSA Teachers Award, IIT Kanpur Distinguished Teacher Award, Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship at NTU Singapore, and the Institute Fellow Award from IIT Kanpur in 2023.
Prof. Rajesh K. Gupta (BT/EE/1984) was named the Founding Dean of the School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences (SCIDS) at UC San Diego - a milestone that marks both a personal and institutional leap in the domains of AI, data, and computing. IITK Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Pawan Goenka (BT/ME/1975) Chairman, Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization centre (IN-SPACe) received the prestigious Padma Shri 2025. His professional experience includes working at General Motors R&D Centre, Detroit, U.S.A., for 14 years and at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. for 28 years. At Mahindra he led the development of the Scorpio SUV and built a strong R&D infrastructure and a robust product portfolio. He retired from M&M as MD & CEO on April 1, 2021. Dr. Rakesh K. Jain (B.Tech/CHE/1972), Director of the Edwin L. Steele Laboratories for Tumor Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Professor at Harvard Medical School, received the prestigious 2025 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Award for Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research. This is one of the most prestigious acknowledgements in Oncology. His research focuses on the tumor microenvironment, including the vasculature and matrix, and their roles in tumor growth and response to therapy, with the goal of developing novel strategies to manipulate the microenvironment and improve cancer detection, prevention, and treatment in humans.

A venture capitalist and serial entrepreneur, Mr. Anil Kejriwal passed away. He launched his first start-up - Technocrats Paperchem, manufacturing paper chemicals in 1975 at Jamshedpur. In the year 1981, he founded Ramtech, which went on to become one of the leading global companies in personal computers.
Prof. Asangram Mudali was the Director of the National Institute of Science & Technology. A philanthropist, he was actively involved in providing education to the poor in the State of Odisha. After completing his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from IITK, he went on to receive his master's degree from University of Houston, USA, in 1987.

IITK Distinguished Alumna, Prof. Meenakshi Narain passed away on 01 Jan. 2023. She was a prominent high-energy experimentalist and was deeply involved with the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. She did her MSC2 in Physics in 1984 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. She was instrumental in discovering the top quark, the heaviest fundamental particle in 1995, and co-authored/authored over 850 articles in leading physics journals. She was a professor of physics and Chair of the Dept. of Physics at Brown University.
Dr. Deepak Pathak for getting awarded the 2022 Okawa Research Grant. He is one of seven professors in the U.S. to receive the prestigious grant from the Okawa Foundation for Information and Telecommunications. Dr. Pathak's research has focused on making robots adaptable to real-world environments. His work with legged robots has enabled them to maneuver across nearly any terrain, climb high stairs and clamber over obstacles. He has also demonstrated novel ways to teach robots tasks, including having mobile manipulators learn from watching humans or even YouTube videos.
