Mr. Lokvir Kapoor

Mr. Lokvir Kapoor, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Pine Labs, has contributed to the growth of merchant commerce and financial technology through innovative solutions in payments, point-of-sale systems and merchant financing. Headquartered in Noida, Pine Labs has expanded across diverse sectors and international markets, becoming a unicorn in 2020 following an investment from Mastercard.
Mr. Kapoor holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur (1987) and an MBA from IIM Bangalore. Before co-founding Pine Labs, he held financial management and business development roles at Schlumberger in India and overseas.
His enduring commitment to IIT Kanpur is reflected in his support for the Bright Minds Scholarships, which enable meritorious students to pursue their education irrespective of financial constraints. In 2026, his landmark philanthropic contribution towards the Student Activity Centre 2 and the Central Dining Facility further strengthened the Institute's student-life and campus infrastructure. IIT Kanpur has recognised him among its Principal Donors.
In recognition of his contributions to entrepreneurship, fintech and merchant technology, and his sustained commitment to education and the development of IIT Kanpur, the Institute confers upon him the Distinguished Alumni Award 2026 in the category of Entrepreneurship & Management.
