In 2003, 12 Visiting Faculty Apartments were made to accommodate long-stay faculty, visiting with family. Eight of these are two bedrooms, and four are three bedroom apartments. The apartments are fully furnished and fully equipped with necessary amenities.

Visiting Faculty appointed by the Institute will pay:

  1. Rs. 25,000/- per month for A Type Apartment (Rs 15000/- for 15 days)
  2. Rs. 35,000/- per month for B Type Apartment (Rs. 20000/-for 15 days)
  3. Electricity & CUGL charges as per actual.
  4. Visiting Faculty, who is not paid HRA by the Institute, will pay Rs 300/- per day for A-type apartment and Rs 500/- per day for B-type apartment as maintenance charges.

IIT Kanpur has membership of the Indian International Centre (IIC), 40, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi. Four (04) rooms can be booked through the Visitors' Hostel, IIT Kanpur.
