Prof. Arvind Agarwal (Alumni, BT/MT/MME/1993/1995), has been elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (#AAAS). Prof. Agarwal was elected for his distinguished contributions to advanced #materials, #plasma spraying and carbon nanotube composites, #biomechanics, #bioengineering, #nanotechnology and graphene foam reinforced advanced materials for #deicing, which is of great benefit to #aerodynamics.

We are pleased to inform you that Nisheeth Kr. Prasad's paper titled "Novel hybrid sacrificial anodes based on high phosphorus pig iron and Zn for the cathodic protection of steel" has been adjudged as one of the best paper in "Young Student & Scientist Forum" during CORCON 2021 International Conference & Expo on corrosion held on 18 -20 Nov 2021 at Mumbai. We are delighted to share that Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rai, Alumni, Ph.D., MSE IIT Kanpur, have been awarded for the Best Oral Presentation in Product category in the recently concluded National Metallurgists Day (NMD) Annual Technical Meeting (ATM) 2021 conference organized jointly by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Kolkata and Jamshedpur Chapter in association with TATA Steel from 13-15th November 2021.

Founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (#SMaRT) at University of New South Wales Sydney, Prof. Sahajwalla was recognized for her outstanding work as an internationally recognized materials #scientist, #engineer and #inventor who has revolutionized #recycling science and advocated for #STEM and #sustainability locally, nationally and internationally. She is renowned for pioneering the high temperature transformation of waste in the production of a new generation of green materials.


We are delighted to share that Dr. Satyam Suraj Sahay (Alumni, M.Tech., MME, IIT Kanpur - 1992), has been elected as a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) for the year 2021 for his distinguished contributions in the field of 'Engineering'.

Our alumnus, Prof. Aparna Singh (B.Tech 2007) who is currently Assistant Professor in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science Department at IIT Bombay has been declared as one of the recipients for the "Young Metallurgist of the Year Award (Ferrous category)".


Research paper authored by Mr. Abhinav Varsheney (PhD Student), Mr. D. Verma (Grad. Student), Prof. S. Sangal and Prof. K. Mondal in Transactions IIM has been adjudged for the IIM SAIL GOLD MEDAL. The award shall be presented during the National Metallurgist Day Celebration (NMD) to be held at IIT Kanpur on 14th November 2016


One of our former students, Mr. Akash Bajaj [BT (MSE) 2016], shall receive this year's IIM VIDYABHARATI PRIZE. This award is presented to the student graduating in the B.Tech. Program in Materials/Metallurgical Engineering with outstanding academic credentials.
