How to Reach IIT Kanpur
By Air
- From Kanpur Airport – Kanpur airport is about 30 kilometers from IIT Kanpur campus and has direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru. From Kanpur airport to IIT Kanpur campus, prepaid cabs/Ola/Uber and auto rickshaws are available. Drive time is approximately an hour.
- From Lucknow Airport – Lucknow airport is an International Airport, located approximately 90 kilometers from IIT Kanpur campus, with direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, among other major cities of India. Prepaid cabs/Ola/Uber are available from Lucknow airport to IIT Kanpur campus. The estimated travel time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- From Delhi Airport – This is an international airport in the national capital with flights from several nations. Kanpur is approximately 500 kilometers away. Kanpur can be reached by train in 5 hours and by car in 8 hours.
By Train
The Kanpur Central Railway Station is served by trains from Lucknow (72 kilometers, 1 hour and 15 minutes), Delhi (440 kilometers, 4 hour and 45 minutes) and several other cities. IIT Kanpur is approximately 16 kilometers away from Kanpur Central Railway Station. From the railway station, cabs and auto rickshaws can be hired to reach IIT Kanpur. Drive time is approximately 40 minutes.
