Dr.Satya P.Chauhan

Dr. Satya Pal Singh Chauhan is a Senior Program Director at Battelle.He graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1968. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1972 and an MBA from Ohio State University, Columbus in 1978.

During his 35-years illustrious management career at Battelle, a leading developer of innovative technologies, Dr. Chauhan has led the development and commercialization of over 30 technologies including alternative fuels research, separation technologies, pollution control and later advanced materials and chemical processes related to green products, green manufacturing, and green energy. Dr. Chauhan has been simultaneously responsible for multi-sector and interdisciplinary R&D programs that cut across energy, environment, water, health, materials, and defense sectors.

Dr. Chauhan has won several awards including R&D 100 Awards - The Oscars of Innovation, the 2008 Industrial Innovation Award from the American Chemical Society; the 1989 Product-of-The-Year Award for Electroacoustic Dewatering from the Water Environmental Federation; Battelle's over 50 IP Creation and Development Awards, the Distinguished Inventor Award in 2007, and a Special Technical Leadership Award in 2009. He is member of several leading professional bodies in his broad and diverse field of specialization. Since 2005, he has served as a panelist for aviation and environmental research for the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. He is credited with 18 U.S. patents issued, over 30 U.S.patent applications, including 5 currently pending; numerous foreign patents and applications; and over 100 reports of inventions at Battelle. He has published over 100 journal articles, presented over 200 technical papers, contributed chapters in 3 engineering handbooks, and has been the subject of numerous magazine and newspaper articles.
