Safer Internet Day 2026 - Workshop on cybersecurity, safe internet practices and responsible use of AI
A workshop on cybersecurity, safe internet practices and responsible use of AI was conducted by the Computer Centre, IITK, at Opportunity School, IIT Kanpur, on the occasion of Safer Internet Day. The session, led by the experts Mr Navneet Sharma and Mr Sagar Rana, a member of the cybersecurity team, Computer Centre, IIT Kanpur, witnessed active participation from around 110 students and teachers.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about cyber threats and promote responsible internet & AI usage. The session covered key topics such as common and advanced cyber threats, cyber hygiene practices, recent cyber incidents, and incident reporting mechanisms, and responsible use of AI.
Speaking on the occasion, our cyber security team emphasized the importance of digital safety in today’s technology-driven world and encouraged students to adopt best practices to protect themselves online. The event was part of a nationwide awareness campaign initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to promote safer digital habits among young internet users. The workshop received positive feedback from students, who appreciated the initiative to equip them with essential cybersecurity knowledge. Events like these play a crucial role in empowering young minds to navigate the digital world securely and responsibly.
