Dr. Siddhartha Panda, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Coordinator of the National Centre of Flexible Electronics, participated as a panelist in a panel discussion on “Emerging Technologies in Sectors (EV, ESDM, Renewables)” that took place in the Magnetic Maharashtra Convergence Summit in Mumbai on 19th Feb. Part of the discussion was telecast live on CNBC18 and excerpts were telecast on NDTV 24x7 on 24th and 25th Feb. The other panelists who participated in this discussion were Dr. Pawan Goenka (MD, Mahindra and Mahindra), Mr. Sumant Sinha (CEO, ReNew Power Ventures Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Ashish Khanna (CEO & ED, TATA Power Solar Systems Ltd.) and Mr. Kapil Maheswari (CEO, Hinduja Renewables Pvt. Ltd.). Professor Panda spoke about, among other things on ESDM sector in India, the need to embrace a new technology sector like Flexible Electronics, the research work currently being pursued at the FlexE Centre, IIT Kanpur and the importance of industry-academia collaboration.
  Post-doctoral positions

The Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur ranks among the best of the nation and commands very high level of respect both nationally and internationally. Our department has been built over the years by faculty members, who have always been exceptionally hard-working, highly dedicated to research and committed to provide cutting edge knowledge and rigorous training to their students. We carry out research in core areas such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Separation Processes and Controls as well as inter-disciplinary areas such as Nanosciences and Technology, Biosciences, Soft Matter Physics, Advanced Materials and High-Performance computing. The academic environment in our department is highly vibrant that nurtures creativity and inquisitiveness. We publish in top international journals like Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS), Advanced Materials, Physical Review Letters, Langmuir, Soft Matter and many others. Our papers get routinely accepted as cover page articles of top international journals. Our research also features in many national and international newspapers and science magazines. In our department, we offer top-rated elective courses that often transcend the barrier of Chemical Engineering and these specialized electives are attended by students of different departments. Our students get to grow in an intellectually stimulating environment where emphasis is not on competition but individual excellence. They continue to excel long after they graduate and distinguish themselves in both academia and industry, in both within the country and abroad. We take great pride in our alumni, among whom we have recipients of almost all major national and international recognitions: National Science Medal by the President of the United States of America, Membership of National Academy of Science (USA), National Academy of Engineering (USA), National Medal of Technology and Innovation (USA), Infosys prize, Shantiswaroop Bhatnagar prize, TWAS prize and so on.

Our department is equipped with both state of the art under-graduate laboratories and highly equipped post graduate research laboratory (PGRL). The unique feature of our PGRL is that it hosts several important characterization facilities at one single place and are mostly run by our own students. These facilities allow our faculty and students to tackle complex phenomena requiring thorough understanding and also industrial R&D problems demanding practical approach.

In the days to come, we wish to see ourselves as one of the most accomplished chemical engineering department in the country that fosters and inculcates high degree of creativity, competitiveness and enterprising skill in our students. We wish to see ourselves also heavily engaged with our industry partners taking on high stake problems and bringing forth high value solutions.

We invite you to explore the webpage of our department and that of our faculty.
