JOSH is IIT Kanpur's all night sports competition, rapidly becoming an annual fixture since its inception in 2004. JOSH invites each and every resident of IIT Kanpur to take part in more than twenty different games, all keenly contested with enthusiasm, energy and sportsmanship.
Sandeep Pathak started Josh in 2004. His vision was to bring back the good old days when people used to be eager to go out and play. He used to recall his school days when he used to play so many sports and yet never got tired. He wanted that kind of feeling to exist amongst everyone right here in IITK, in spite of academics and computers in everyone's room. Thus began JOSH.
We have tried to continue this festival in the same spirit. We would like to see the enthusiasm of the people to continue beyond Josh. Right now people are very enthusiastic about playing, practicing and winning, but as soon as Josh gets over, all is forgotten. The junta must remember what it feels like to play, and take the next step by going to the field after Josh. Then the purpose of Josh will be fulfilled.
