The Young Entrepreneur (TYE) programme was organized by SBERTC, IIT Kanpur in association with TiE UP at IIT Kanpur. The event aimed at fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation at school level. Within this programme, six sessions each on Entrepreneurship, Idea generation / Opportunity recognition, Finance, Marketing, Presentation & Team building and Business model / Business law were organised on six sundays.
The programme comprised of classroom sessions, mentoring and Business Plan competition for school students of classes 9 to 12. 50 – 60 students participated in each session which lasted for 3 hours. Almost 350 students participated in TYE from across twelve schools in Kanpur – Seth Anandram Jaipuria, Delhi Public School- Kalyanpur & Azadnagar, Mariampur Sen. Secondary School, Methodist High School, Mercy Memorial School, Dr Virendra Sawroop Education Centre – Panki & Kidwai Nagar, Swaraj India Public School, Puranchandra Vidyaniketan, St. Aloysius & Sir Padampat Singhania School. The sessions were taken up either by faculty at IIT Kanpur, or faculty at IIM Lucknow or a CA representative of TiE UP.
Class room sessions started on 06-10-2013 at IME Department, IIT Kanpur –
- 1st classroom session was organized on 6th of October on “Entrepreneurship” by Prof. B.V.Phani and Prof. Ashutosh Khanna.
- 2nd classroom session was organized on 20th of October on “Idea Generation/Opportunity Recognition” by Prof. Ashutosh Khanna.
- 3rd classroom session was organized on 27th of October on “Finance” by Prof. B.V.Phani.
- 4th classroom session was organized on 10th of November on “Marketing” by Prof. Shashi S. Mishra.
- 5th classroom session was organized on 17th of November on “Presentation & Team Building” by Prof. Himanshu Rai.
- 6th classroom session was organized on 24th of November on “Business Models / Business Law” by CS Rajeev Kapoor, Mr. Gaurav Ahuja, Mr. Gopal H Sutwala & Prof. B.V. Phani.
- 7th classroom session was organized on 1st of December – during this session participants played a “Business Game” designed by Prof. Deepu Phillip.

- 3rd classroom session was a mentoring session organized on 19th of October.
- 4th classroom session was organized on 2nd of November on “Marketing” by Prof. Shashi S. Mishra.
- 5th classroom session was organized on 9th of November on “Finance” by Prof. Ashutosh Khanna.
- 6th classroom session was organized on 16th of November on “Communication and Presentation” by Prof Himanshu Rai.
- 7th classroom session was organized on 23rd of November on “business model and business law” by Prof Manoj Agarwal.
- 8th classroom session was organized on 30th November – during this session participants played a “Business Game” designed by Prof. Deepu Phillip and Prof Ashutosh Khanna.
- Two mentoring sessions followed each on December 14th and 28th.
