MoU with Singapore Management University

To provide a framework for cooperation and to facilitate collaboration in areas of mutual interest in the field of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology commercialization, a MoU has been signed between Syndicate Bank Entrepreneurship Research and Training Centre, IIT Kanpur and Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore for a period of 5 years. Apart from other imperative factors that the MoU mentions may arise and also states clearly the consequent steps to be taken thereof, the collaboration is mainly in education and research pertaining to entrepreneurship, innovation and technology commercialization.

Under education, the possibility of jointly designing and delivering executive education in entrepreneurship and innovation in India and Singapore will be foreseen. Provision of joint degree programmes will also be worked out. Co-teaching in seminars by leveraging tele-videos and “live” beaming of lessons will be explored. The possibility of allowing students of both institutes to attend workshops, classes and seminars at both locations will also be worked out. Faculty exchanges and short duration joint appointments are also on cards.

Under research, entrepreneurship and innovation labs will be developed that will integrate technology development and commercialization. Co-hosting of workshops and forums focusing on management of entrepreneurship and innovation and joint research by faculty is also being planned. New research projects that bloom from the work between the two institutes will be taken up.

The common activities will not be limited to education and research but other collaborative projects may also be taken up as part of the MoU.
