Dr. Peeyush Khare has joined the Kotak School of Sustainability (KSS) at IIT Kanpur as an Assistant Professor. His research focuses on understanding the molecular-level environmental and health impacts of anthropogenic and biogenic emissions and their chemical transformations in the atmosphere. Prior to joining KSS, Dr. Khare worked as a Research Scientist at the Institute of Climate and Energy Systems (ICE-3: Troposphere) at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, where he contributed to the pan-European ACTRIS research infrastructure and investigated the atmospheric transformations of complex organic emissions via advanced mass spectrometry. Dr. Khare was previously a Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND Postdoctoral Fellow at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland, where he studied India's air pollution challenges as part of an international Clean Air Project consortium and contributed to air pollution measurements in Spain, China, Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Yale University in the U.S. supported by the Yale Graduate Fellowship, U.S. EPA and NSF grants and held multiple Yale Teaching Fellowships. At KSS, Dr. Khare's group will combine advanced analytical techniques, lab and field observations and data driven approaches to study emerging air pollution challenges and their implications for environmental sustainability and human health.
