VETOMAC-3 (Vibration Engineering and Technology of Machinery) is the third in a series of conferences being held biennially in India. It is an effort to bring together researchers from diverse areas in vibration engineering and technology. The conference is being held under the auspices of the Vibration Institute of India.

VETOMAC-1 was held in 2000 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. VETOMAC-2 was organized by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai in 2002.

In a novel venture this year, VETOMAC-3 is being held jointly with ACSIM-2004, the Asia-Pacific Conference on System Integrity and Maintenance (ACSIM).

ACSIM is a biennial international conference dealing with asset management and maintenance related issues. ACSIM 2002 was the third in the series and held in Cairns in Queensland, Australia. ACSIM 2000 was held at the Hilton Nanjing, P.R.China and attracted over 120 delegates from more than 20 countries.

In view of the convergence in the discipline areas covered by the two conferences, a harmonious fusion of technical sessions is planned.

India is an attractive tourist destination; several pre and post congress tours are being organized to the famed places of interest in ther region around Delhi and northern India. These include the popular Taj Mahal in Agra, and an exquisite trip on one of the worlds most palatial trains - the Palace on Wheels.
