A. (NPSC Awards)

1. Academic Excellence Award

The nominee for Academic Excellence Award should be an eminent academician person with distinguished contributions in the area of power systems research and teaching, and must have served in a reputed academic Institute of the country for at least 15 years.



2. Industry Excellence Award

The nominee for Industry Excellence Award should be an eminent person with distinguished contribution in the Indian Power Sector development, which should be evident from his/her research /technology development and deployment, novel contributions in the technology and system management and should have served in Industries/ R&D organization/Utilityfor at least 15 years.



3. NPSC Woman Engineer Award

Guidelines

Purpose of the Award
To recognize and honour a deserving woman engineerwho has made outstanding contributions to Power Engineering in India. The award is intended to provide visibility to the awardee’s accomplishments and future potential while empowering her to be an inspiration and role model for budding women engineers.


Eligibility
Woman engineer working in India, between the ages of 50 and 70 years as on 1st of January of the award year. The award is to be bestowed on an individual only, who should be a citizen of India.


Validity
A nomination is valid for two years only. A candidate may be nominated two times in total subject to age not exceeding 70 years after a gap of 3 years from the first nomination.


Criteria
Contributions by a woman engineer who has made a significant difference in power engineering and technology in India by way of breakthrough innovation and has helped to advance knowledge and competence to the benefit of the profession and people in India.


Last date of Nomination
The last date for the receipt of nominations be July 31, 20** (award year)


The Award
The Award shall consist of a cash of Rs.50,000 and a citation (as for other ongoing awards by NPSC).


Number of Awards
Two awards are to be conferred during each NPSC; one award for academics and research category and another for industry category.


Nominations
Nominations can be forwarded by the Head of Institutions or NPSC Steering Committee members. For this, it should be well published.


Selection for the Award
The Award is instituted to identify and recognize woman engineer in India who have outstanding contributionstopower engineering. A Selection Committee constituted by NPSC steering committee, like for other awards, will finalize.


Presentation of the Award
The awards will be presented during the NPSC.



4. NPSC Young Engineer Award

Guidelines

Purpose of the Award
To recognize outstanding achievements/contributions made by Young Engineers with strong potential for future professional growth and impact in Power Systems Engineering.


Eligibility
Any citizen of India not older than 35 years holding the first tertiary degree in engineering/technology as on 1st of January of the award year. However, women nominees are eligible for age relaxation of five years for the award.


Validity
A nomination is valid for one year only. A candidate may be nominated two times in total subject to age not exceeding 35 years. Exception is in case of women nominees for up to 40 years.


Criteria
Evidence of excellence in power engineering research, product/process, design, technology development and transfer specific contribution submitted for consideration of the Award should have been carried out in India.


Last Date for Nomination
The last date for the receipt of nominations was July 31, 20**(award year).


The Award
The Award shall consist of a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a citation (as for other ongoing awards by NPSC).


Number of Awards

Selection Procedure for the Award
The Award is instituted to identify, recognize and encourage young and promising talents in India who have made and are likely to continue to make outstanding contributions impactingpower engineering research and design, technology development and transfer. The shortlisted nominees will be invited to make a presentation, followed by an interaction with the Selection Committee as constituted by the NPSC Steering Committee.


Presentation of the Award
The awards will be presented during the NPSC.

B. (Malaviya Excellence Award)

Malaviya Excellence Award in power systems was instituted by the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT(BHU) Varanasi in honour of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder of Banaras Hindu University, was started on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary in 2012. The first award was given in the Seventeenth NPSC held during Dec. 12-14, 2012 at IIT(BHU). This award is decided to be given in coming NPSCs.

The award is given to an eminent person having made distinguished contribution in the field of power systems and should have served in an academic or R&D organization of the country for at least 20 years, evident from his research/academic/technology development/special contribution at the national level.

Following persons may send nominations for this awards , which will be decided by a Committee formed by the Head of Electrical Enginering Department , IIT(BHU)

1. Eminent persons in the area of Power Systems.
2. Awardees of previous NPSCs.
3. Heads of leading institutions.
4. The conveners of previous NPSCs.

NPSC AWARDS RECIPIENTS

C. (LDC Excellence Award)

This new award has been instituted to recognize and appreciate the best performing Load Dispatch Centre (LDC) in the country, out of all the State LDCs, National and Regional LDCs in India. The process and criteria to be used for deciding the award are given in the report of a sub-committee formed by the NPSC core steering committee available at the link given below.
