Philosophy at IIT Kanpur
The Philosophy Discipline in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kanpur has contributed significantly in the areas of Moral Philosophy, Philosophy of Logic and Language, and Phenomenology. Its current research interests are mainly in Philosophy of Mind, and Cognitive Science and Philosophical Aesthetics. The discipline offers courses both at the Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. The postgraduate courses provide students with an opportunity to engage in an in-depth study of specific issues in contemporary philosophy. The overall emphasis of the various undergraduate courses is on inculcating conceptual clarity and critical thinking among the students.
