RiSeNet

RFID is an emerging technology which is revolutionizing the way we handle automated data capture and identification applications. Sensor networks form the core of the pervasive and ubiquitous computing platform. Tiny sensor nodes having limited resources in terms of energy, computing power and communication reach are deployed in large numbers to solve complex/distributed problems. Currently the RFID technology has its limitations due to the small amount of energy it can derive from the readers transmitted radio waves. We want to combine the two technologies and utilize the benefits of both the world.

RFID

We have an active RFID and Sensor Network reading group which organizes weekly readings for important work in these fields. We also have a Network reading group which caters to the larger area of networking in general. We are in process of setting up a RFID lab under Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur.
We are building a reader module based on ST Microelectronics CRX14 Reader Chip.
