Following set of activities were also undertaken during the year –
1. Website : Launched in July 2012, the website of E-cell contains exhaustive information on every sub-unit, events, activities and details pertaining to the cell. It also helps in reaching out to the professional world and create links with VCs, Angel Investors, alumni and incubators.
2. Campus Newsletter “Accendo”: The campus newsletter of E-Cell launched in August 2012 aims at familiarizing the student community with the concept of entrepreneurship and also making them aware of the various activities planned for the semester – like TEDx, Bootcamp, LEM, Product Design etc and as well as opportunities like SIPP, DPP provided by E-Cell. It was an eight sided newsletter, in-house designed and conceptualized.
3. Presentation by Venture Nursery: India’s first angel firm for enthusiastic entrepreneurs
– Speaker : Mr. Ravi Kiran, Co-founder of Venture Nursery
About Venture Nursery : Venture Nursery provides angel funding and accelerator including mentorship to enhance probability of success of the enterprise. They look for idea and innovativeness, team and tenacity, focus and flexibility.
Target Audience: The presentation was about their firm and the process, e,g. equity they charge, against what they offer. So, it targeted those enthusiasts who are working on their business plan and are in need of funding. The presentation was to make them familiarize with funding process and formalities involved. The participation was about 40 odd students.
4. Wacky idea competition and Prime’83 launch
Aimed at promoting innovative thinking in the campus, this competition was conducted in 2 phases – online and on-the-spot – The online phase was an open for all contest where five global issues of grave concern were depicted and an out-of-the-box solution was expected. Judging was based on number of likes a solution received in a given time-frame of contest.
Participants in the offline phase were given a problem and a solution was required in a span of 20 minutes. Two alumni, who were in campus at that time, DOSA (Dean of Student Affairs) and DRPG (Dean Resource Planning and Generation) were esteemed judges and 15 best ideas were shortlisted. Judging was done on the basis of innovation and spontaneity rather than feasibility.
Cash prizes worth Rs 25000/- were distributed. Event witnessed a huge turnout in both phases.
