Focused discussion meeting on

Metamaterials and Photonic Nanostructures

16th & 17th August, 2013

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

  Objectives

In recent years, the research area of Nanophotonics has gained enormous importance in view of the likely applications in device-level architectures. Similarly the ideas of metamaterials have gained acceptance and are finding increasing applications from micro-wave to optical frequencies. The meeting will discuss techniques for modeling of metamaterials and photonic structures, and fabrication of such structures. Various device applications and metamaterial applications for cloaking/invisibility will be highlighted. Emphasis will be placed on imparting working knowledge in the above mentioned areas through lectures by experts from India and abroad. Two poster sessions and a panel discussion are expected to result in a high level of interactions and engagement for exchange of ideas.

 THEMATIC SESSIONS

bullet Modeling of active photonic media, metamaterials and devices.
bullet Fabrication of metamaterials and photonic  nanostructures.
bullet Metamaterial and photonic crystal devices and applications.
bullet Futuristic applications – Cloaking/ Invisibility.
