The Electrochemistry and Transport for Design of Energy Systems (ElecTroDES) Lab at IIT Kanpur invites applications for the position of Project Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of Numerical Modeling of Electrolyzers and Fuel Cell Systems.
About the Position
The selected candidate will work on research focused on developing detailed physics-based models and robust digital twins of electrolyzer and fuel cell systems for fast, accurate, and scalable performance prediction, with applications in large-scale energy systems integration.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering as well
- Excellent academic credentials and research experience
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Transport processes (mass transfer, heat transfer, fluid flow)
- Electrochemical energy systems
- Applied mathematics and computational methods
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Physics-based numerical modeling
- Computational techniques and simulation methodologies
- Programming in C++ and/or Python
- Modeling tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics
- Familiarity with AI/ML approaches relevant to engineering systems
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with one or more of the following will be given preference:
- Prior experience in modeling electrochemical systems (electrolyzers, fuel cells)
- Experience in physics-driven machine learning or scientific machine learning
- Exposure to digital twin development for engineering systems
Nature of Appointment
- Initial appointment for one year
- Extendable based on satisfactory performance and project requirements
- Position is purely temporary and contractual
Pay-scale: 60000-5000-85000. Actual pay will be based on the skills and experience of the candidate.
