Role: Project Post-Doctoral Fellow
No. of Positions: 06 (Six)
Salary: INR 90,000/- per month (Consolidated)
Location: IIT-Kanpur Campus
Nature of position: Temporary / Contractual
Duration of appointment: 1 Year or till the end of the project (whichever is earlier), renewed annually based on performance.
Role Description:
This is one of the research roles at the Just Transition Research Centre, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kanpur. The role involves writing research proposals, securing research grants, guiding team members in conducting high-quality research, producing top-tier reports, and managing a team of researchers. The role also requires collaboration with other verticals to advance the goals of the Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning and execution of projects, fieldwork, travel to field sites, and interacting with stakeholders.
- Writing project reports, proposals, and academic publications.
- Handling quantitative/qualitative data.
- Organizing workshops with stakeholders.
- Other tasks assigned by the reporting authority.

Selection Criteria
|
|
Essential Qualification: Ph.D/Master’s degree with significant experience and expertise in the relevant area/ technical skills in specified area.

Desirable Qualifications
|
Preference will be given on following specializations
- Specialization in environmental/energy economics, climate studies, geography water resource engineering/ economics, energy policy, environmental studies, or allied subjects.
- Specialization in Coal, Petrography, Rare Earth Elements, Working experience in Just Transition with hand-on experience in XRD, XRF, FTIR, TGA, SEM, TGA, Bomb Calorimeter, Petrological Microscope. Software Knowledge of Origin, SPSS, Xpert High Score.
- Specialization in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Landscape Ecology, Urban Microclimate, Local Climate Zones, Hazard Risk Assessment, SDGs.
- Specialization in Bioenergy and Biofuels, Waste-to-energy, Wastewater treatment, Circular Economy, Energy Balance Studies.
- Specialization in Geology, Paleoclimatology, Paleolimnology, Multi-proxy Analysis, Geochemistry.
- Specialization in Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, Participatory Research, Decision Science

Experience
|
- 3 to 5 years research experience including PhD.

Skills and Competencies
|
- Lead a team and execute project deadlines
- Expertise in primary and secondary data collection supervision and analysis.
- Excellent academic and proposal writing skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using technology and data analytics tools in research i.e., statistical analysis with SPSS / R / STRATA; qualitative analysis using ATLAS.ti / NVivo; geospatial analytical tools like ArcGIS/QGIS
