Congratulations to Convocation Award Winners 2020

 
 

Congratulations to Mr. Vishwaraj Srivastava & Prof. S. Panda for receiving the Ranjan Kumar Memorial Award at the 53rd Convocation of IIT Kanpur on October 22, 2020.


The award is given to the Best socially relevant project by any graduating student(s). Vishwaraj was mentored by Prof. Siddhartha Panda and was involved in making a novel multi-function device for Blind and Visually Impaired users as part of his M. Tech. thesis. The device uses Augmented Reality to project a virtual interface that can be touched using haptic gloves. The entire device is a wearable computer which a blind user can interact with using touch and sound. The special haptic gloves can touch the virtual interface, read virtual text in braille format, and navigate the virtual interface. Apart from this, the device can also be used to recognize faces, navigate the user using depth imaging and function as an entertainment device playing music files etc.


The wearable haptic glove consists of a CNT-PDMS strain sensor, haptic actuators, electronic hardware and a 3D printed case. Also, Ag nanowire PDMS composite is explored to construct stretchable conductors".

 
 
 
 

Congratulations to Ms. Nishu Jain for receiving the Gold Medal for Best All Rounder Girl Student of Two Year Master’s Programme at the 53rd Convocation of IIT Kanpur on October 22, 2020.


The award is given to a graduating girl student of 2-year Masters programmes with the best all round performance (MTech/MBA/MDes/MSR.
