Estate Management

Estate Office plays an instrumental role in the management of assets of the Institute. Following are the key Estate functions:

i. Allotment of residential accommodation.
ii. Allotment of space to commercial establishments and revenue realization.
iii. Issue of passes to mobile vendors.
iv. Auction of unserviceable materials released from all units of the Institute.
v. Sanitation
vi. Legal cases related to estate.

The estate Office deals with the entire gamut of activities involved in allocation of residential as well as commercial space to the individuals including allotment, rent fixation, lease agreements, revenue realization, handing/ taking over of the premises, litigations etc. There are 900 houses of various grades and 200 commercial establishments in the campus at present.

The community is also served thro' mobile vendors such as cycle rikshaw, vegetable vendors, junk/ waste paper collectors, hawkers and a host of other services. Passes are issues and regularly reviewed by the Estate Office in order to closely monitor the petty commercial activities within the campus.

Estate Office carries an onerous responsibility of regulating all commercial activities in order to meet the aspirations of the residents while maintaining high levels of security and discipline on campus.

Sanitation is another major responsibility of the Estate. The campus is host to a population of 7000 residents. An additional population comprising 3000 odd visitors / school children/ non-resident officials/ construction workers etc. enters the campus during the day. Besides this, 5000 residents of Nankari village enjoy right of way thro' the campus. Thick green cover in the campus also generates a very high level of waste by way of fallen leaves, organic waste from manicured lawns and kitchen gardens, frequently cleaned wild vegetation from the open spaces etc., round the year.

The resident as well as non-resident population collectively generates as much as 2500 cubic feet of solid municipal waste on an average, everyday The Estate works tirelessly throughout the day to maintain the campus and the buildings in a high state of hygiene. Its responsibilities include sweeping & cleaning all buildings, roads, parks & open spaces and collecting & removing litter & solid waste from every corner of the campus. The Estate is alive and highly sensitive to the aspirations of the residents and is fully geared up to play a meaningful role in enhancing the quality of life on campus thro' sanitation.
