Applications are invited for the following temporary project positions in the Department of Space, Planetary & Astronomical Sciences & Engineering (SPASE), IIT Kanpur. The positions are purely temporary and on a contractual basis initially for a period of up to three years or until the end of the project, whichever is earlier
Name of the Post: Assistant Project Manager
Number of Posts: 01(one)
Salary Range: Rs. 16,000 – 1300 – 38,000
Essential Qualification and Experience: Post graduate degree Or Graduate degree + 3 years of relevant experience.
Desirable Experience
Prior experience managing website development frameworks or Content Management Systems (CMS).
Familiarity handling Linux-based systems, shell basics, or basic version control via GitHub.
Strong organizational abilities and design layout skills (graphic design or digital media management).
A live portfolio or links showcasing past technical work (websites, repositories, or layout files).
Work Profile:-
The selected candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator, students, and collaborators to support a modern research environment within the SPASE department. The research group focuses on radio astronomy, astrophysical transients, astronomical instrumentation, and astrostatistics. Key responsibilities include:
Project administration, documentation, institutional purchases, and financial reimbursement pipelines. Website development, routine code resource tracking, and infrastructure maintenance. Digital content creation, online outreach management, and public science communication updates. Logistical coordination for departmental workshops, national/international conferences, and research seminars. Routine end-user technical support for shared local computing resources and Linux software setups.
