Applications are invited for temporary & contractual post to work on printed electronics at Samtel Centre for Display Technologies (SCDT) and National Centre for Flexible Electronics, IIT Kanpur.

Name of Post: Project Technician

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc + 4 years of relevant experience Or 3 years Engg. Diploma + 4 years of relevant experience Or High School+ ITI+ 9 years of relevant experience

Desirable Qualification and Expertise:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics assembly and laboratory operations.
  • Proficiency in soldering techniques, PCB design, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with laser cutting machines, 3D printers, and screen printing.
  • Familiarity with electrical measurement tools and calibration equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD tools such as Google SketchUp.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

PCB Assembly & Repair:

  • Soldering SMT and through-hole components using SMD Reworking Station and Pick & Place techniques.
  • Performing solder paste deposition and reflow processes.
  • Etching copper-clad boards for routing and breakout board applications.
  • Understanding circuit schematics and troubleshooting PCB issues.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

  • Operating and maintaining CO2 laser cutting machines.
  • Managing and maintaining Ultimaker 3D printers.
  • Conducting basic screen printing for PCB and electronic enclosures.
  • Performing calibration of thermistors using Fluke calibration equipment (7340).
  • Handling the Voltera V-One PCB printer.

Laboratory Support & Research Assistance:

  • Recording and analyzing test data for research projects.
  • Fabricating inductors and transformers for experimental setups.
  • Assisting in measurement and data acquisition using electrical instruments.
  • Performing heat sink design and testing.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting electrical laboratory equipment.
  • Providing assistance in ongoing research projects and experiments.

Inventory & Documentation:

  • Managing and tracking electronic components inventory.
  • Handling project-related documentation and maintaining records.
  • Using MS Office for report generation and data management.

Field Work & Additional Tasks:

  • Conducting field visits as required for project execution.
  • Assisting in the development of electronic enclosures using Google SketchUp (CAD) for 3D printing.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards in laboratory operations.

Salary: 18000-1500-45000/- (per month based on qualification)

Number of positions: One

Term of the appointment will be purely on temporary and contractual basis initially for a period of one year or end of the project, whichever is earlier
