Smart Materials Structures and Systems Laboratory (SMSS), Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur is seeking passionate and motivated researchers to work on Design & Development of an Aaray of Electroencephalogram (EEG) / functional near Infrared Spectroscopy (FNIRS) integrated with mofal sensory system to capture, analyse and classify the emotions of consumers for product preferences based on deep learning Neural Networks.

Project Title:- Design & Development of an Aaray of Electroencephalogram (EEG) / functional near Infrared Spectroscopy (FNIRS) integrated with mofal sensory system to capture, analyse and classify the emotions of consumers for product preferences based on deep learning Neural Networks.

Name of the Post: Project Engineer

Salary: Rs. 31600-2600-78400 Per Month.

(Higher starting salary may be considered for exceptionally qualified/experienced candidates as per IITK Rules)

Minimum Qualification: M.Tech. in Instrumentation / Biomedical Engineering / Electronics / Electrical Engineering/ Embedded Systems
OR
B.Tech. in the above disciplines with relevant hardware development experience, as per IIT Kanpur norms.

Responsibilities & Essential Skillset:

  1. Must have an excellent academic record with greater than 7.5 CPI or 75% marks in the qualifying degree from a reputed Engineering Institute.
  2. Should have basic working knowledge of EEG and/or fNIRS systems, biosignal acquisition, and physiological sensors.
  3. Should be familiar with signal acquisition and preprocessing of EEG or other physiological signals using Python or MATLAB.
  4. Should have working knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification and pattern recognition.
  5. Experience with multimodal data acquisition involving physiological signals such as heart rate, SpO₂, skin conductance (GSR/EDA), or vision-based systems will be an added advantage.
  6. Should be comfortable with experimental setup, data collection, and documentation for human-subject studies.
  7. Exposure to deep learning frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow) and basic data visualization tools is desirable.
