Smart Materials Structures and Systems Laboratory (SMSS), Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur is seeking passionate and motivated researchers to work on developing a series of next-generation advanced robotic systems. Our team comprises researchers and professionals from diverse backgrounds including Robotics, Mechanical design, and Control, and is looking forward to augmenting its capabilities with a Researcher in ROS/Navigation.

Project Title: - 3-D Laser Doppler Vibrometer

Name of the Post: Project Engineer

Salary: Rs. 78,400 Per Month.

Responsibilities: -

  • Develop and refine product concepts using multibody-dynamics MBD software (Adams, SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, etc.).
  • Strong Knowledge of Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines and Mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop prototypes and optimize designs for production.
  • Choose appropriate materials and manufacturing techniques (CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, sheet metal fabrication, etc.).
  • Conduct structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis to ensure product reliability and performance.
  • Ensures designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing and assembly.
  • Analyze and improve existing designs by reverse engineering products and components.
  • Generate and manage BOMs, technical reports, and design documentation.
  • Work with electrical engineers, industrial designers, and production teams to integrate mechanical components into complete systems.

Essential Skillset:  The ideal candidate should have,

  • Expertise in Adams, MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, SolidWorks, CATIA.
  • Ability to create precise mathematical model using Newton-Euler and Lagrangian formulation.
  • Knowledge of metals, polymers, and composites used in product design.
  • Understanding of machining, casting, molding, and 3D printing techniques.
  • Experience with ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL simulation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing techniques.

 

Minimum Qualification: M.Tech (minimum CPI 8.5) + 1 Year experience / B.Tech  in Mechanical Engineering (minimum CPI 7.5) + 3 years of  relevant experience in Robotics/Mechanisms and relevant areas.
